Somewhere just outside Portland (Vancouver, WA, to be exact), in a house overlooking the river, a small group of writers has gathered. There’s coffee in the kitchen, laptops on the table, notebooks in laps. And for a few days, the world has quieted.
We call it a writing retreat, but it’s more than that. It’s a deliberate pause; a chance to remember why we write in the first place. Not for deadlines. Not for coverage. Not for agents or even applause. We write because we have something inside of us that needs to be heard.
