This Scene...from Field of Dreams (Script vs Movie)

It's the Feel-Good Season, and Field of Dreams Is All About the Feel-Good Ending

I wanted to a take step back from the Christmas festivities and focus on just simply feeling good. It’s the season of remembering what’s actually important, who we love and why, and overcoming the stress, worries, and pains within us.

And that’s what Ray didn’t know he was experiencing in FIELD OF DREAMS. Up until the very end he thought he was doing everything for everyone else…until Joe Jackson tells him, “No, Ray. It was you.” It was Ray’s pain that he needed to ease. It was his journey to see through to the end. He thought he needed to tell his dad that he was sorry in order to fix his dad’s pain; that his dad was the one who was still struggling, even in death.

This is the epitome of story, everyone. This is what virtually every character in every story experiences: the understanding that they are the ones who need to change, and sometimes it takes the magic of a baseball diamond in the middle of Iowa to show us just how wonderful our life really can be. When we face the inner challenges and personal flaws we’ve been avoiding for a lifetime, our world opens up.

In this post, I share not only the scene and the pages, but I’m sharing both at the same time. In past videos I’ve shared the pages, discussed them, and then showed the scene. This time I’m showing both at the same time. Yes, just to change it up, but also to allow you to read along with a scene I’m sure you already know so well.
