We’re back! And it feels good to dive into some more scene breakdowns. This is a fun one, and it was a tricky one to do because the scene I chose is incredibly long…and I didn’t want to post an incredibly long video. It was tricky to figure out what to cut, but we’ll see if it still makes a dent.
It’s January in the Midwest, and it’s post-holiday season…so naturally I dream of my long-time home of Los Angeles. I miss California terribly, and it’s not just for the obvious reasons of the weather. I miss it because I miss the experiences I had there. The people I knew, loved, even hated. They all shaped me into who I am today, and when I look back on all of my experiences of living for over 20 years in L.A….boy do I have good feelings. I have those sappy feelings. The over the top feelings. The dreamy stuff. L.A., Hollywood in general, certainly seems that way on the surface, but reality does tend to kick in more often than not. But I still think of it as that dreamy, magical place. And what better way to pay homage to my beloved city then by writing a musical about it.
